Based on information from the National Weather Service and with our local weather partners, all Walton County schools will remain closed on Friday, September 27th. Tropical storm force winds and rain are anticipated from approximately 7:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. from Hurricane Helene. Closures are for all students, staff, and SPICE. Extracurricular decisions will be made by individual schools, including Friday football games, so please look to your schools for more information. All schools are expected to open Monday, September 30th. Stay safe, and continue to check our district and schools’ websites and social media platforms for more information.

Due to the weather conditions expected from Tropical Storm Helene, all Walton County schools will close Thursday, September 26th. Closures include both students and employees. Extracurricular activities and SPICE will also be closed. Tropical Storm Helene is currently predicted to make landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida on Thursday as a Category 3 hurricane. The track and severity of the storm can change, but based on current data from Emergency Management, Walton County is expected to experience tropical storm force winds and heavy rain. At this time, school is still planned for Wednesday, September 25th and Friday, September 27th; however, we will continue to monitor the weather with our local experts. Below are the dress up days if you would like your child to participate in the fun. Please remember that your child's attire must be school appropriate. Have fun and get creative!

The St. Joe Foundation, with the Walton Education Foundation, announced the Walton County No Ordinary Joe Scholarship Finalists at the Feb 20th board meeting. Among them was our very own graduating senior James Jackson.
WISE was proud to honor Mrs. Bell our as Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Morse as our Educational Support Professional of the Year at Thursday night’s ceremony. We are so proud of these amazing professionals!
After collaboration with local Emergency Management and weather experts - ALL Walton County School District campuses will be closed on Tuesday, January 9th due to severe weather moving across our area in the form of heavy rainfall and high straight line winds. Please check with your schools for updates on activities this evening. Monday evening will see heavy rainfall and winds in excess of 70MPH along with the potential for tornadoes. In the early morning on Tuesday, extreme destructive winds exceeding 80MPH and multiple tornadoes are expected along with heavy rains. We will continue to work with local authorities and release any updates on our social media platforms and District website. Please take the necessary precautions to keep your families safe.

The Walton County School District took the 56th Annual Panhandle Area Educational Consortium by storm last week! The leadership of the WCSD has been hard at work all summer learning and making themselves ready to bring the best of the educational space back to our children!
The Walton County School District leadership visited the Florida Capitol last week to learn more about the inner-workings of legislation and how to influence legislation for the betterment of children. It was an inspiring experience for all to sit in the seats of those who represent our great state!
